Goals of D.A.A.D
• Creating alternative activities for the youth. • Providing awareness of the effects of drugs and the physical and emotional aftermath. • Assist in neighborhood and community well being. • Reach young people with education about substance abuse. • Help provide resources for individuals and families of substance abuse. • Provide information on parenting skills of developing lines of communication with children. • Provide strategies to combat peer pressure for youth and adults. • Provide a support system for those how seek it.

Milestones for the DAAD Organization
April 2003 - Defensive Action Against Drugs of Wayne County held its organizational meeting to establish its mission and goals.
July 2004 - DAAD holds the first annual Back To School Bash to provide students with school supplies and a fun drug-free day before school started. 125 people attended at the Wayne County Park. 2005 the Bash moved to the Aspire Center with 561 attending. 2006 - 961 attended.
Spring 2004 - DAAD began the Women's Jail Ministry Support Group at the Wayne County Detention Center.
Spring 2005 - Operation UNITE established support for 29 county anti-drug coalitions in the 5th Congressional District including financial support and other valuable resources. DAAD is Wayne County's UNITE partner.
Summer 2005 - DAAD and the Wayne County Bass Club hosted the first annual Kid's Fishing Derby with 125 participants. 2006 - 175 participants. 2007 - 190 participants.
August 2006 - DAAD sent three members to Celebrate Recovery Training in California to begin the free-weekly support group that meets each Thursday at the Aspire Center.
Spring 2007 - UNITE provided voucher opportunities for 3 Wayne County families seeking assistance with drug treatment.
Summer 2007 & 2008 - STAR 104 Christian Radio partnered with DAAD to host the Back to School Bash and expanded give-aways and pull-down services for the over 1600 students and parents who attended.
Fall 2007 - Cecil and Shirley Garth received the UNITE Cornerstone Award for fostering the creation and sustainability of faith-based programs.
July 2008
- Free, Shoot Hoops Not Drugs at Wayne County High School. 200 kids attended

• Women's Support Ministry at Wayne County Detention Center • "How to Drug Proof Your Kids" free parent training sessions • Free, Celebrate Recovery support group for people with hurts, habits and hang-ups at the Aspire Center every Thursday evening at 6:30 with separate men's and women's groups.
